Important Safety Message

Good afternoon parents,

This is John Collins, Deputy Superintendent of the Poway Unified School District. This afternoon I met with officers from the Poway Sheriff's Department who told us about an incident that occurred late yesterday afternoon involving a female juvenile in the city of Poway who was taken against her will. The victim, who fortunately was released unharmed, arrived home safely . Out of an abundance of caution, we felt it was important to share this information with all Poway Unified families. The following information was contained in the Sheriff's press release:

"On January 29, between 5:25 pm and 5:45 pm, a 12-year old female juvenile was walking home in the area of Scots Way and Midland Road in Poway. Three Hispanic male adults driving an older white-colored, box-type utility van stopped. The male occupants of the van forced the juvenile into the van. The suspects were approximately 20-30 years of age. The suspects drove the girl around for about 20-30 minutes, then dropped her off unharmed."

The Poway Unified School District once again urges you to take this opportunity to review with your children the importance of walking in groups and not talking with strangers when walking to and from school, and while in the community.

The Sheriff's Department has asked that any information you may have be forwarded to Juvenile Detective C. Johnson at the Poway Sheriff's Station at 858.513.2800.

My Opteka Fisheye Test

Messing around with the Opteka .20x Fisheye Lens I picked up.  At $60, it was cheap enough that I figure I can use it to try out fisheye photography for kicks. My office, in cleanup transition is a disaster, which this lens captures pretty well... :)
