You think you got a good deal on an HDTV last week? Talk to Mark Thomas, who just picked up videogame company Midway games for 99 percent off on Friday. The seller: Sumner Redstone, who is desperately trying to sell off everything except his shares in CBS and Viacom in order to restructure a looming debt load.

Nepal Backpack Contents

Organizing photos and stumbled across this picture that I took in Singapore before we flew to Nepal. Going to tag it with one of those "what's in your bag" photos on my Flickr... Shamefully (or perhaps wisely), after the first day carrying this stuff, I stuffed it into a duffel and let one of our porters carry it in addition to all the other stuff he was already carrying.

Here's a shot of the porters:

Catching up on Sony PS3

MAG Press Conference and Trailer:

Sony has filed a new patent describing a new Playstation 3 controller that employs "hybrid video capture and ultrasonic tracking."

This comment was pretty funny:

Sony press release:

Step 1: If your genitals resemble our new break-apart controller then please consult your local GP.

Step 2: Inform your doctor that your man-bits are infringing our copyright

Step 3: You now have the choice of having the offending article removed, or having your dongle branded with the Sony logo.

Step 4: Play safe!

Canon Lenses (by @hellpop)

Now that I have my brand new D90, I'm trying to figure out what lenses to get.

Though this list is for a Canon body, it's a pretty cool reference.

Here is what I have.  I mostly use the 35mm.  I do kind of want to
sell some lenses too and get other ones instead.  I'd probably let go
of the 85 and 135.

Canon 28-105 f3.5-4.5

Canon 100-300 f4.5-5.6
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/12059-USA/Canon_2565A003_100_300mm_f_4_5_5_6_USM_Autofocus.html

Sigma 70-200
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/533555-REG/Sigma_579_101_70_200mm_f_2_8_II_EX.html

I have a 1.4x teleconverter too which I use often when shooting cars and such.

Lenses I'd like consider getting:

I am looking for a reasonable walk around zoom lens.  The 24-105 might
be a little big though but I'd be ok with it.  L lenses are pretty
expensive too.  Still, out of these, I'd probably get the 24-105L.

Canon 24-105 f4 L IS
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/397662-USA/Canon_0344B002AA_24_105mm_f_4L_IS_USM.html

Canon 17-40 f4
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/279582-USA/Canon_8806A002_17_40mm_f_4L_USM_Lens.html
Some bag on this lens as not being a good range, but for my current
lenses, it could be ok.

Canon 17-55 f2.8 IS
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/425812-USA/Canon_1242B002AA_EF_S_17_55mm_f_2_8_IS.html
This lens is supposedly awesome.  Not an L lens but its expensive
still.  Supposedly L like optics but regular build quality and
housing.

Tamron 28-75 f2.8
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/284399-REG/Tamron_AF09C700_28_75mm_f_2_8_XR_Di.html
I've read this lens is supposedly ok and reasonably priced for a f2.8.

Interestingly, SF2 came up in discussions multiple times during our Argentina trip... brought up by hot girl gamers like this one...

Well, this is sort of a blog... I suppose.

I'm trying to figure out what to do with my domain: http://www.wangtang.com/ since my blog is pretty crusty there.

Friends' blogs:

Of course this Wired article suggests "Thinking about launching your own blog? Here's some friendly advice: Don't. And if you've already got one, pull the plug."
